Users' Guides to Children's Rights

Whoever you are and whatever you do, you can work to promote and protect children's rights. Then there are specific types of people whom most children will come into contact with. How those people view and treat a child go a long way to determining whether that child’s rights are respected. And if children themselves understand their rights, they stand a far better chance of living life with respect, dignity and equality.

We have produced guides to applying a “rights based approach” to children for a number of different actors. The guides include a range of advice and tips, such as how different articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (the international treaty that enshrines the rights of children everywhere) applies to different people’s work, to techniques and ideas for how a rights based approach can be employed day-to-day. It is not designed to tell people how to do their jobs, but rather gives them the tools to understand how children’s rights fit into it.

We are developing more guides, and please contact us with any ideas for future guides or feedback on existing ones by emailing [email protected].
