Virgin Islands (United States)

Part of the same archipelago as the similarly named British Caribbean island group, the United States Virgin Islands are a small insular territory of the US. Although the inhabitants of the islands are full US citizens, they are not involved in the election of the president and their congressional representative has very limited voting rights. They do, however, hold elections for the small local legislature and governor of the territory.
