practitioners.

The UNDP’s Human Development Report 2000 is a key text in rights–based
approaches to development, providing both conceptual and inspirational
guidance to development practitioners.

The report covers a considerable range of material, but especially “makes
the case” for development based on human rights principles, linking both
with the historical underpinnings of the United Nations and with recent
work, especially that of Amartya Sen and those who have endeavored to
factor human freedoms and human dignity into development thinking and
practice.
