A Universal Declaration of Human Responsibilities

Summary: This draft on human responsibilities is an
attempt to find a balance between freedom
and responsibility in human rights.
This draft on human responsibilities is an attempt to find a balance
between freedom and responsibility in human rights. It aims to promote
the greatest amount of freedom possible, but also to develop the fullest
sense of responsibility that will allow that freedom itself to grow. It also
seeks to reconcile ideologies, beliefs and political views that have
conflicted in the past. This draft proposes that the exclusive insistence on
rights can lead to endless dispute and conflict, that religious groups in
pressing for their own freedom have a duty to respect the freedom of
others. This draft was written in the context of the 50th anniversary of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations.
