Concluding Observations and Recommendations on the Periodic Report of the Republic Cameroon

Summary: This report compiles all mentions of children's rights in the Concluding Observations of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights.

Last Examined: 11-25 May 2005

The Report was presented to the African Commission by a Delegation led by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Charge of the Commonwealth.

The Commission commended Cameroon regarding:

  •  The enhancement of the policy on free, compulsory and basic education for all (Paragraph 11)

The Commission raised concerns about:

  •  The situation of vulnerable groups in general and in particular that of street children and of indigenous populations/communities and human rights defenders remain precarious; (Paragraph 13)
