Task Force on Health Promotion for Children and Adolescents in & by Hospitals and Health Services

The Task Force on Health Promotion for Children and Adolescents in & by Hospitals and Health Services was established within the International Health Promoting Hospitals Network, with the mission to 'apply Health Promoting Hospitals' principles and criteria to the specific issues of health promotion for children and adolescents in & by hospitals and health services'.
One of its main work areas is 'safeguarding children's rights in hospital'. Within this work area the Task Force has recently elaborated a 'Self-evaluation Model and Tool on the respect of children's rights in hospital' in a consultancy process with experts from WHO, UNICEF IRC, the English Care Quality Commission, the Task Force on Migrant Friendly and Culturally Competent Hospitals and the Greek Ombudsman.
This model and tool is currently being implemented in 14 hospitals in Europe and Australia and it is expected to contributed to the assessment of the respect of children's righs in that setting, to enable change and improvement both in relation to the respect of children's rights in hospital, as well the improvement of the healthcare services provided.
