Home Abandonment Prevention Programme: An Experience of Human and Social Development

Summary: Bogota YMCA has developed a
Prevention of Home Abandonment
Model for Young People at risk over
the last 20 years. The objective of
producing the publication is to
facilitate and promote the replication
of the YMCA's successful model which
has been applied to children and
young people at risk of abandoning
their home or already living on the
streets.

The model takes a holistic approach and operates in the street,
home and community with street living children and young
people, or those at risk of abandoning the home. It also
encompasses advocacy work, which promotes collaboration
amongst community organisations, NGOs and government bodies
to raise awareness of home abandonment and inform policy and
practice.
