Girls in Fighting Forces: Moving beyond victimhood

Drawing upon the findings of three studies (1- "Where are the girls? Girls in Fighting Forces in Northern Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Mozambique: Their Lives During and After War"; 2- "Child Soldiers in Sierra Leone: Experiences, Implications and Strategies for Reintegration"; and 3 -"Breaking the Silence: Girls Abducted During Armed Conflict in Angola") funded by CIDA’s Child Protection Research Fund, this paper traces the perspectives and experiences of girls as victims, participants, and resisters of violence and armed conflict in Angola, Sierra Leone, Mozambique and Northern Uganda.
