CUBA: Children's rights and the Inter-American system

Summary: This report summarises the status of children's rights of Cuba before the Inter-American human rights system.

Cuba is a member of the Organization of American States (OAS) but was excluded from participating between 21 January 1962 and 3 June 2009 as a result of tensions of the Castro regime with the United States and some other countries who were persuaded to vote for Cuba's suspension.

The Inter-American Commission is an autonomous body of the OAS which monitors Member States' compliance with their obligations under regional human rights conventions.

Regional instruments ratified

Cuba has not ratified the American Convention on Human Rights or other regional human rights instruments.
