International Institute for Child Rights and Development

The International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD) is a non-profit organization based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada that is devoted to advancing the quality of life and development of children around the globe. IICRD has been working on issues affecting children’s lives locally, nationally and internationally since 1994.IICRD is unique in that it bridges children and their needs with community leaders, governments, NGOs and other higher level decision makers to bring systemic change to the lives of children through social innovation. Children are at the centre of all programming produced by IICRD and it is this commitment that helps to shape tangible changes in the lives of children.

IICRD’s mission is to build respect for children’s inherent human dignity, nurture their sense of belonging, and reinforce justice at all levels through the implementation of strength-based approaches to child rights. These key values are the compass by which IICRD works together and engages partners on various initiatives. With the guidance of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, IICRD brings child rights to life using innovative research, education and capacity building that draws on the strengths of children, their families, their communities, and their culture.IICRD
