The Children's Legal Centre is an
independent national charity
concerned with law and policy
affecting children and young people.

It's aims are -: 1.To promote and uphold children's rights within the context of the UN convention on the Rights of the Child 2.To monitor and develop law, policy and practice concerning children and young people and to inform and influence policy makers and the general public. 3.To provide legal advice and information for children and young people in educational disputes with schools and local education authorities as well as free legal representation 4. To produce monthly journal and range of publications on law, policy and practice 5. To carry out research in the field of children's rights both nationally and internationally Link to organisation brochure Primary areas of work: The CLC provides legal information through an advice line and correspondence. The Centre responds to a broad range of questions, but concentrates on educational matters; social services, public law and practice affecting children and young people. The advocacy unit offers free legal representation to children and young people in educational disputes. the centre opened a new unit in September 1997. The Children in Armed Conflict Unit, whose patron is Graca Machel.
