AllAfrica Global Media is a multi-media
company headquartered in the United
States and Africa. Growing rapidly,
AllAfrica's web site logs over six
million monthly page views and the
company is the largest electronic
distributor of African news and
information worldwide. Clients include
Comtex, Lexis-Nexis, CNN, Reuters
Business Briefing, Financial Times
Information, CompuServe, Bloomberg and
iSyndicate, and for wireless devices,
OmniSky and AvantGo. Our proprietary,
interoperable software sorts and posts
over 500 new stories daily - from our
own reporters and from our more than 70
African media partners. AllAfrica is
the successor to the non-profit Africa
News Service, which produced prize-
winning print and broadcast reporting
for major media such as National Public
Radio, the Washington Post and the BBC
for two decades, prior to developing an
online venture. In late 1999, the
Africa News board of directors
recognized that the site's 25%-a-
quarter growth rate could not be
sustained without investment. To ensure
its survival, the project was
incorporated into allAfrica.com,
launched by Africa News co-founders.
Africa News has a stake in the new
company, and the expansion will ensure
larger earnings for the venture's
African content partners. The AllAfrica
family includes the AfricaNet Trust,
our sister company producing original
products for broadcast and the
Internet.

Global Audience

AllAfrica.com serves users worldwide,
some 90% of them currently living
outside the continent. But Africa has
the world's fastest rate of
connectivity growth, and its audiences
are increasing rapidly. Wherever they
reside, our users tend to be affluent,
widely-traveled and highly educated:
companies around the globe with African
investments and trade relationships;
Africa-interested individuals -
scholars, tourists, and Peace Corps and
other international volunteers;
Africans living and working in the
United States - who, contrary to common
assumption, comprise the best educated,
most economically advantaged immigrant
community in the nation; educational
institutions from kindergartens to
universities; diplomatic missions,
communities of faith and non-
governmental organizations; a sizable
share of the five million African
Americans online, as well as Afro-
Europeans; and, as infrastructure in
developing economies expands, Africans
in local markets from Abidjan to Addis
Ababa, from Cairo to Cape Town
