19 April 2008, Kuwait
Assistant Undersecretary for Social Care and Secretary General of the Higher Council for the Disabled Dr Jassem Ashkanani announced plans to launch a campaign for the disabled under the theme "We Are For It."

The campaign comes after a strategy prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs to combine efforts with non-profit organizations and private institutions aimed at serving this fragment of society. Ashkanani said.

He added that social integration of the disabled was not new to the country, but further awareness was needed, which is where the new campaign comes in.

About the campaign "We Are For It", he said, that it will emphasize the latest technology used by disabled and handicapped individuals, by convening various conferences amongst other entertaining activities throughout the country aimed at presenting that technology and explaining its use to the public.

The campaign will also address the social, psychological, medical, legal and moral needs of the disabled, through discussion groups and talks held with different specialists.

The conferences he added, will be organized by SKY Exhibition and Communication Art Advertising, which are both Kuwaiti companies that specialize in exhibitions and conferences.

The campaign will start with a seminar honouring the disabled, by Minister of Justice and Social Affairs and Labour Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, followed by an exhibition in Marina Mall, Salmiya and sports activities, quizz games and art competitions in the Kuwait Disabled Club. The undersecretary finally said that he hoped the campaign would achieve its aims in aiding the disabled public, and understanding their various needs
