Raising a child is one of the most important things anybody can do. It can be tiring, stressful, incredibly rewarding, and fun all at the same time. You will be one of the most important people in a child’s life as they grow into adulthood - if not the most important. Whether you are their birth parents or not, the way you view and treat children you care for will have a profound impact on how they develop.
Children have the same human rights as you. Not because they are “the future” or the “adults of tomorrow”, but because, like you, they are human beings today. By respecting children’s rights you can give that child the foundations they need to become active and responsible citizens.
It is certainly not easy being a parent or someone who cares for and raises a child. You have a big responsibility when it comes to making children’s rights a reality.
Resources for you
Below are some children’s rights resources tailored to parents and carers. We are developing more all the time, and updating and adding to existing resources. Please email us with your feedback on these, as well as suggestions for further resources we could look to produce.
