Summary: Information about institutions in Uzbekistan that monitor children's rights.
Children's Ombudsperson The Office of the Ombudsperson is empowered to receive and address complaints on violations of children's rights. However, in its Concluding Observations of 2006, the Committee on the Rights of the Child raised concerns at reports that the Office has insufficient financial and human resources, and that it was not fully independent as required by the Paris Principles. The Committee urged the State to address these flaws as well as to pursue the establishment of a Children's Ombudsperson as foreseen in the draft Law on the Guarantees of the Rights of the Child. The Office of the Children's Ombudsperson was established under the Rights of the Child (Safeguards) Act of 7 January 2008, but has not yet been examined by the Committee for compatibility with the Convention.
