TAJIKISTAN: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Tajikistan that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

The Human Rights Ombudsman Institution was established in 2009. The Ombudsman is empowered to investigate complaints from all citizens, including children. In its latest Concluding Observations, however, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed concern that children's issues many not be sufficiently addressed because of the Ombudsperson's general mandate and recommended the creation of a Children's Rights Ombudsperson to monitor the CRC and investigate complaints.
