Small Arms Report of the UN Secretary General

The present report reflects the initiatives undertaken to implement the Secretary General'srecommendations on ways and means in which the Security Council could contribute to dealing with the question of illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in situations under its consideration. The report covers the period from January to December 2005. The most significant achievement attained during this period is the adoption of the International Instrument to Enable States to Identify and Trace, in a Timely and Reliable Manner, Illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons, which fulfils my first recommendation.
