Summary: This report examines the impacts of donor-supported programmes for maternal and child health, nutrition, and fertility in Bangladesh. It reports that under-five mortality has been reduced substantially since the 1990s, but malnutrition remains high. The gap between rich and poor in child mortality is also narrowing. Reasons for the decline in child mortality include improved economic well-being, the growth of immunisation coverage, and the rapid expansion of female secondary schooling.
