IRAN: Inhuman sentencing of children

The Islamic Penal Code 2013 came into force in May 2013, replacing the 1991 Penal Code. The new legislation amends the law with regards to the death penalty, life imprisonment and corporal punishment, but these forms of sentencing remain lawful for offences committed while under the age of 18.

This report was initially prepared in 2011, but was updated in November 2015.
