International Save the Children Alliance and PLAN International - in Vietnam

Summary: To develop the Save the Children
Alliance and Plan International’s
Children’s participation initiative in
Vietnam, in regards to Special
Session
on Children.

The International Save the Children Alliance and PLAN
International
are cooperating in order to develop children’s participation
initiative in Vietnam in regards to Special Session on Children. In
addition to the government report we would like to have an input
of
Vietnamese children themselves by getting their views on: How
do they
see their lives? What problems do they encounter? These
opinions will
be shared with Government delegates who will go to the UNGASS
Special
Session meeting.

Participation includes the following:
* Training of 15 facilitators who work directly with children (15
different groups)
* Meetings between facilitators and children
* Follow-up meetings with facilitators
* National meeting of 15 children’s groups
* Meeting between children and Vietnamese delegates who are
going to
New York
* A document describing the process of children’s involvement
and
their opinions.

Activities to date: Training for Facilitators January 10-14, 2001 in
