GRENADA: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Grenada that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

The 2007 Ombudsman Act established a general Ombudsman's Office for Grenada (http://ombudsman.gd/) that is able to receive and investigate individual complaints.  However, it remains unclear whether the Ombudsman's mandate specifically includes children's rights, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child has recommended that the Grenada "ensure that the newly appointed Ombudsman is provided with the necessary human and financial resources to independently carry out tasks assigned and is given the mandate to monitor the implementation of child rights and to receive individual complaints from or on behalf of children in this regard."
