ERITREA: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Eritrea that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudspersons

As of its 2008 Concluding Observations, the Committee on the Rights of the Child expressed concern "that there [was] no independent national human rights institution to monitor and promote the Convention [on the Rights of the Child]". The Committee urged the State to establish such a body in full compliance with the Paris Principles, provide the body with sufficient resources, and grant it a mandate to monitor, investigate and recommend remedies in response to complaints from or on behalf of children.
