DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

The National Human Rights Monitoring Centre was created by the Transitional Government prior to the implementation of the 2006 Constitution, but the body was not set on a Constitutional basis after 2006. In its 2009 Observations, the Committee on the Rights of the Child noted the State's commitment to creating an independent institution for human rights, and encouraged the State to create such a body in full compliance with the Paris Principles.
