CZECH REPUBLIC: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in the Czech Republic that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson

While the Czech Republic has taken steps towards establishing an independent Children's Ombudsman, it has yet to establish a body with the ability to monitor the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and investigate individual complaints by children. While the Public Defender for Human Rights can receive complaints from children, the Committee on the Rights of the Child has expressed concerns that this body has insufficient financial, technical and human resources to fulfil this function.
