To make the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the
Child successful, there is a need for strong and competent
organizations and institutions that serve as watchdogs vis-à-vis the
administration and the general public. Often these institutions are
called Children's ombudsmen. This booklet presents what ombuds
offices for children do, how ombuds offices are established, points
to consider in planning/advocating for an ombuds service for
children, and examples of ombuds offices for children.
