Summary: This unique report is based on case
studies from 26 countries, most of them
in situations of internal armed
conflict. These case studies were
undertaken by local and international
non-governmental organisations working
in the field as well as governmental
and other agencies.

This book is an updated and expanded edition of the report by the
same name, which was commissioned by the UN-Study on the Impact of
Armed Conflict on Children - the Machel Study. The additions include
a chapter about the ""global picture"" as well as statistics and
photographs. This unique report is based on case studies from 26
countries, most of them in situations of internal armed conflict.
These case studies were undertaken by local and international non-
governmental organisations working in the field as well as
governmental and other agencies.
