Children in the Dock

ANNPCAN's Summary of the Publication
A situational analysis of the Juvenile JusticeSystem in Kenya.
The report is based on research into the juvenile court records
and interviews with children who have passed through the
system. It identifies serious shortcomings in the laws and
procedures for dealing with juveniles accused of crimes and
presents a set of practical measures that can be taken to
improve the system.

The report brings the plight of children in conflict with the law to
public attention and makes a case for treating them not as
criminals but as children in urgent need of care, protection and
Love.

When Launching the report, the Lady Justice Effie Owuor noted
that there are no other reports of this kind anywhere. This is a
report which every Information Center should acquire.
