CHAD: Children's Ombudsperson

Summary: Information about institutions in Chad that monitor children's rights.

Children's Ombudsperson
There is a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Chad, but there is no ombudsperson or independent national institution that specialises in children's rights. In its Concluding Observations of 2009, the Committee on the Rights of the Child urged Chad to establish as soon as possible an ombudsperson, or unit within the NHRC, to monitor the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Committee also urged the State to ensure that such a body be able to receive and investigate complaints from, or on behalf of children in relation to alleged violations of their rights.
