World Initiative for Orphans

WIO is an independent, non-profit human rights organization for children without parental care worldwide. We strive to guard the fundamental needs of this disacvantaged population by engaging in advocacy, education, problem analysis, and the development of solutions based on sound research that can be applied by countries and NGOs worldwide.

WIO has recently opened two regional offices, called Regional Institutes for Orphan Research (RIOR): RIOR Africa in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, and RIOR Latin America in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The RIOR Asia-Australia is to be opened in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2007.
