World Coalition for Indigenous Children and Youth

The coalition was established in July
2001 at the Second International
Workshop on Indigenous Children
and Youth. The group will facilitate
the organisation of the third
Workshop in July 2002.
Immediate goals of the Coalition:

* To build an ongoing network of
communication among indigenous
peoples’ organizations and
institutions, and their supporters,
who are working on matters
concerning indigenous children and
youth.
* To facilitate the organization of the
Third International Workshop on
Indigenous Children and Youth in
July 2002.
* To ensure that the Special
Rapporteur and Permanent Forum
give prominence to matters
concerning indigenous children and
youth.
* To support the inclusion of
indigenous issues in all United
Nations related international events
and to promote and secure the full
participation of indigenous peoples
and in particular indigenous youths
in these processes.
