The main goals of the Union are:
1. to create, promote and carry out activities for children in their leisure time,
2. to initiate actions that promote, introduce and implement the rights of children,
3. to help and support parents for the upbringing of their children.
The Union of
societies "Our Children" of Croatia
seeks the realisation of the rights of
the child The Union is the head organization which unites independent Societies “Our Children” that are founded and active in towns and districts throughout Croatia. At this moment there are 83 Societies “Our Children” throughout Croatia, with a growing tendency. The Union originated several actions that implement the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child that have been implemented in the National Plan of Activities for the Rights and Interests of Children for the Years 2006-2012. The following programs are noted in the National Plan: Children’s Forums, For the Child’s Smile in the Hospital, Towns and Districts Friends of Children and Children Parliaments. Besides these programs the main Societies carry out local actions and activities with children and for children regarding several fields (upbringing, education, culture, parent support, preventive heath and social care activities). The Union has several ongoing humanitarian activities: distribution and sale of UNICEF greeting cards and products, “Godparentship” for socially deprived children (in cooperation with the Austrian organization “Rettet das Kind” and children’s actions for children “Friends for Friends” and “Children for Children”.
