The main aim is to safeguard the
Romanian children's development, to
improve the quality of their lives and
support their education by offering
help and resources to Romanian
state-run institutions (such as
schools and hospitals). UOT is currently running two main projects: 1. Rehabilitation and educational programmes for children with special needs institutionalised in a home for children in the village (200 children, 3- 18 years old). This project was started in 1991. 2. Play programme for the children hospitalised in the Paediatric section of Bacau County Hospital - Four playrooms opened and in daily action and run by 3 Romanian nursery nurses; A playground equipped for outdoor activities for use by the children in the hospital. - A Paediatric Resource Centre located in the same section of the county hospital and opened both for the medical staff and for the patients (since 1992). Activities include workshops for mothers in the maternity and paediatric units of the hospital and for pupils in schools for health education matters. UOT
