Environment and Health Caucus for the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children 2001

The Caucus workks on highlighting
the importance of the environment
on the health status of the child
At the Third Prep Com, the Caucus
issued a "priorities" paper, which
focused on eleven key points of the
Outcome Document, two of which
were used for intensive lobbying.
These were:
1) Section on Resources, section III,
43: to add clause after infection
disease: “a clean and sustainable
environment.”
2) Section B Goals, strategies and
actions, under Promoting healthy
lives: 32: We are determined to
break the intergenerational cycle of
malnutrition and poor health by
providing a safe and healthy start in
life for all children,”recognizing their
unique susceptibilities to
environmental hazards...”
