ECPAT Netherlands has been in
existence
since 1995. The founding members

Foundation and Defence for Children
International.
Activities in 1999: Combating child sex tourism: the training kit for teachers of tourism was used as a training material for tour managers and tourism personnel in ‘risk areas’. Child Pornography on the Internet: ECPAT Netherland and Meldpunt Kinderporno started a campaign to raise awareness among children on how to use the Internet safely. 150,000 postcards were distributed in over 670 secondary schools in the Netherlands in the first two weeks of March 1999. Children can also complain about websites, chatrooms and emails by sending messages to: www.surfsafe.nl National Plan of Action: ECPAT Netherlands was involved in preparing of the National Plan of Action. This included the preparation of a national policy document on “sexual violence and sexual exploitation of children”. ECPAT Netherlands was invited to review this document due to its expertise in this area. The document will be used as a framework for drafting the National Plan of Action in 2000. Children at Risk, a partner of ECPAT Netherlands was involved in the planning and organisation of the International Youth Participation Project and World Youth Conference to be held in Manila, 2000. DCI Netherlands, another partner of ECPAT Netherlands, was involved in the European Law Enforcement Project, which published the report “Extraterritorial Legislation As A Tool to Combat the Sexual Exploitation of Children”. ECPAT Netherlands also organised an Internet chat programme in November on the subject of CSEC. Other ECPAT Groups, other NGOs, as well as young peoples’ organisations signed up to take part in the programme.
