SPECIAL PROCEDURES: Shortlisted candidates announced for upcoming mandate appointments
Summary: The list of candidates proposed by the Consultative Group for five Special Procedure mandates has been released ahead of the final appointments during the upcoming 19th session of the Human Rights Council.
The Consulative Group, tasked with interviewing candidates for Special Procedure mandate-holder vacancies, has drawn up its final shortlist for five positions set to be appointed at the 19th session.
The following mandates are due to be appointed:
- Special Rapporteur on the promotion of truth, justice, reparation and guarantees of non-recurrence. (Read more, here).
- Independent Expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order
(Read more, here).
- Expert Mechanism on the rights of indigenous people
- Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic

- Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in the Sudan
