SEX TOURISM: UN Expert calls for contributions for upcoming report

Summary: The UN Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography is seeking contributions for her upcoming report which focuses on sex tourism.

 The Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, Ms. Najat Maalla M’jid, will submit her next report to the Human Rights Council in March 2013, focusing on sex tourism involving children.

Ms. Najat Maalla M’jid has requested contributions for her upcoming report. In particular, she is looking for information on:

  • Existing relevant national legislations;
  • Disaggregated data on the number of cases prosecuted;
  • Actions undertaken to prevent and combat this phenomenon;
  • Measures undertaken to protect children victims;
  • International cooperation projects; Involvement/cooperation with the private sector involvement (tourism industry); Challenges faced.

The deadline for submissions is 3 September 2012.
