REPORT: Rights of People with Intellectual Disabilities: Access to Education and Employment in Romania (9 September 2005)

Summary: This report is part of a series of 14 country reports on the rights of people with intellectual disabilities in Europe, focusing on access to education and employment. The reports monitor the degree to which existing international standards and national legislation are heeded and applied. Each report includes specific policy recommendations targeting both domestic and international decision-makers.

 

"Access to Education and Employment for People with Intellectual Disabilities," a new series of OSI's EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program reports, will be launched in fall 2005.

 

Drafted in cooperation with the Mental Health Initiative, the series comprises 14 country reports covering Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom.

 

The reports highlight the obstacles facing people with intellectual disabilities in accessing education and employment, as well as existing instances of good practices. Each report includes specific policy recommendations targeting both domestic and international decision-makers.
