PROGRAMME OF WORK FOR THE FOURTH SESSION OF THE COUNCIL

(4 weeks) 12 March-6 April 2007

 

1. Panels on two or three issues

2. High Level Segment

3. Reports of mechanisms and mandates

Annual report by the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

New reports of the special procedures. Interactive dialogues. (Order/grouping of reports to be decided in an orderly and non-selective manner).

Reports, studies and other documents prepared by the UNHCHR and the SG, including the reports from the intergovernmental WGs.

Report form 1503 Procedure.

General debate.

4. Follow-up of the decisions of the Human Rights Council

5. Other substantive issues

Other issues related to the promotion and protection of human rights, including initiatives/issues/decisions by delegations to be submitted through the President a minimum of 15 days in advance of the session.

6. Review and institution-building

Progress reports, non papers and decisions of the WGs on:

  • universal Periodic Review (UPR);
  • review of mandates, mechanisms, functions and responsibilities;
  • agenda, annual programme of work, methods of work and rules of procedure of the Human Rights Council.

7. Conclusions and decisions

8. Adoption of the programme of work and the timetable for the 5th session of the Human Rights Council

9. Adoption of the report of the session
