Summary: In Vienna, Prof. Pinheiro met with representatives from the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime to discuss their involvement with the SG Study on Violence against Children.
UNODC is mandated to assist Member States in their struggle against illicit drugs, crime and terrorism having an important expertise in the areas of criminology and justice. The meetings focused on the data analysis developed by the organisation in the last five years. UNODC presented their work on topics such as human trafficking, drug cartels and drug consumption and juvenile justice systems. Some of the indicators collected by them might be incorporated into the study report. The Rule of Law section will provide information on good practices related to juvenile justice. Pinheiro also met representatives of the Austrian government to discuss the recent developments and the follow up of the study.
