ORISSA: Report on special seminar for the parents of child labour (26 October 2005)

Summary: A two days Special Seminar for the Parents of Child Labour of Sonepur Municipality, Dist. Subarnapur, Orissa was organised by RARE with the Central Board for Worker's Education, Ministry of Labour and Employment Government of India on 23rd and 24th October, 2005.

 

A two days Special Seminar for the Parents of Child Labour of Sonepur Municipality, Dist. Subarnapur, Orissa was organised by RARE with the Central Board for Worker's Education, Ministry of Labour and Employment Government of India on 23rd and 24th October, 2005.

Sri Ghasiram Panda, Joint Secretary, RARE welcomed all the participants and expressed the objective of Sarbodaya leader and president of CLAP Sri Siba Sundar Mishra, who inaugurated the seminar on child labour.

Among others who attended were Sri Binod Mohantyfrom CLAP, for child Rights , Orissa, Sri jena, Project Director, National Child Labour Project, Subarnapur, and Sri Dhanmendra Kumar Mishra, Central Board for Worker's Education. Rourkela addressed the inaugural session.

As well as Sri Akshya Bahidar from CLAP, Ambuj Bihari Satpathy from RARE, Ghasiram Panda from RARE, Dr. Durbadala Mishra and Sri Suresh Ku. Sandha, Advocate and Insurance Consultant attended as resource persons and discussed child labour as a Human Rights issue, Education and child labour, Health and Nutrition and Insurance aspect respectively.

A total of forty parents of child labour attended the seminar. Sri Ghasiram Panda, Ambuj Bihari Satpathy, Ashutosh Hota and Gopal Barik Coordinated the seminar in different session.
