NETHERLANDS: Parents offer child sex in exchange for loan

[9 June 2011] - A couple from a small town near Dordrecht in the south of the Netherlands have been arrested for offering sex with their 8-year-old daughter in exchange for a loan. A 32-year-old man they were negotiating with has also been arrested.

The deal was discovered when the parents lent their laptop to a relative who spotted references to child sex in their e-mails and informed the police.

The couple are charged with producing and distributing child pornography, people trafficking and encouraging sex with a minor. There are unconfirmed reports that they took pornographic photographs of their daughter to send to potential customers.

The man involved in the negotiations is being charged with possession and distribution of child pornography and sexual abuse of a child.

A spokeswoman for the Rotterdam Public Prosecutor’s Office says the child has been moved to a safe location.

The investigation is continuing and it is not yet clear whether the parents have sold their child for sexual purposes on previous occasions.
