Kenya: Regional Conference on Juvenile Justice Held

Summary: The 3rd annual Regional Juvenile Justice and Pro Bono Lawyer’s Conference, which was organised by The CRADLE, took place on 9th December 2005 at the Grand Regency hotel, Nairobi.The theme for this year’s conference was ‘Violence and Exploitation against Children: Focus on Trafficking."

During the conference, Ann Mwasia from Machakos was honoured as the best pro-bono lawyer of the year. Prior to the conference, a training for pro bono lawyers was held.

The objective of the conference was to enlighten participants on Violence Against Children within the framework of the ongoing UN Study on Violence Against Children, while focusing on the emerging regional challenges on trafficking in persons.

The workshop drew participants from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Zanzibar, Ethiopia and the USA.
