HAITI: Cholera epidemic – Prevention and awareness-making in communities

Summary: Ten months after last January's earthquake, a cholera epidemic was reported on Thursday 21st October in the Department of Artibonite (in the north of the country). On Saturday, the Haitian authorities and the UNO confirmed the identification of the first five cases of cholera in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and by Sunday, the official balance showed 253 deaths and 3,115 persons infected.
