Child Rights Connect (formerly the NGO Group for the CRC) is pleased to announce the internal launch of the "UP - Universally Promoting Child Rights" campaign among our members and partners. The next two weeks will be key to mobilise our network for the public launch on 21 October. During the 30th anniversary event of our General Assembly, the overwhelming sentiment expressed about the most important thing that Child Rights Connect brings to children's rights is our ability to foster cooperation in our network. To further commemorate the anniversary we want to engage our membership around a campaign targeting our founding and continued work - universal ratification of the Convention of the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols. We are calling on all of our members to be involved - contributing to, participating in and promoting the campaign. The campaign will run online, through a micro-site www.upchildrights.org, an online petition calling for ratification of all of the treaties, and social media messages (please like Child Rights Connect on Facebook and Twitter). Information is available in English, Spanish and French. The campaign will be publically launched on 21 October and run until 20 November - please be in touch with your colleagues in charge of communications to organise your participation now. Campaign materials will be shared and consistently updated throughout the campaign in the Google drive here: http://bit.ly/UPGoogleDrive. A communications kit with important dates and key messaging is available now in English and Spanish. French to come shortly. Below is a short campaign overview as well as some basic suggestions on how you can be involved. Again, much more detailed information is available in the Google drive. For further information or enquires, please contact Laura Collier at [email protected] Brief Campaign Introduction UP Universally Promoting Child Rights is an informational and advocacy campaign which aims to engage organisations working for child rights and raise awareness about the importance of the four UN child rights treaties. Why? As a network, we are asking Child Rights Members and Partners to share the messages about the campaign both internally with all colleagues and contacts. We would also like to feature stories and opinions from organisations (especially those at national and regional levels) about the importance of the treaties and real impacts on the lives of children. The can be short written articles, photos, and/or videos. (Detailed information about messaging is included in the Communications Kit found in the google drive: http://bit.ly/UPGoogleDrive)
