Call for applications: INEE Minimum Standards Training of Trainers Workshop for North America

Summary: The Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies' (INEE) Working Group on Minimum Standards is announcing a ‘call’ for trainers to submit applications for the INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies, Chronic Crises and Early Reconstruction Training of Trainers workshop for North America.

This workshop will be held from May 16-18, 2006 in Washington, DC at the Academy for Educational Development's (AED) Conference Center and is being co-hosted by AED, CARE USA, Catholic Relief Services, the International Rescue Committee and Save the Children US. This workshop will involve 25 experienced trainers from the United States and Canada. More details and the application form are below and attached; the deadline for applications is March 24th.

This INEE Training of Trainers workshop for North America is the fifth in a series of several regional workshops (Anglophone Africa, Francophone Africa, South Asia, Southeast and East Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and North Africa, North America, and Europe) that will be carried out between January – September 2006. Each workshop will train approximately 25 education and humanitarian trainers in each region over three days to apply the INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies, Chronic Crises and Early Reconstruction. The goal of the INEE training of trainers process is to create a cadre of trainers based in regional capitals who will use training and other organizational and individual learning strategies to institutionalize the Minimum Standards within their agencies. The Training of Trainers workshop will directly strengthen the capacity of global, regional, national and local level humanitarian response, education and protection workers and networks, equipping them to provide the psychosocial and physical protection that quality education in emergencies can afford to communities in crisis and the coordinated, holistic response needed to lay a solid and sound basis for post-conflict and disaster reconstruction.
