Regional NGO/CSO Forum, Southeast, East Asia and the Pacific

Summary: A Regional NGO Forum will be held
near Bangkok in which NGOs and civil
society organizations from up to 14
countries in the Southeast, East Asia
and the Pacific Region will
participate. The results of this
regional NGO Forum will be
presented during the 5th Ministerial
Consultation in Beijing by a
delegation of NGO representatives.
Regional NGO forum to prepare inputs and select participants to
the 5th EAP Ministerial Consultation.
The forum will:
- Review Government end-decade assessments and NGO
perspectives
- Make recommendations on the Ministerial Consultation
outcome document and the New Global Agenda ("A World Fit for
Children") for the Special Session.
- Develop a concept paper on the role of NGOs and other civil
society organizations in implementing the CRC and supporting
Children's rights
- Prepare a presentation for the Ministerial Consultation by a
delegation selected at the Forum.

A Coordinating Committee to organize these various meetings
has been set up with representation from Child Workers in Asia,
Malaysian Child Resource Institute, National Council for Child and
Youth Development -Thailand, PLAN International Asia Regional
Office, Save the Children Alliance SEAP, Save the Children-UK
China Office, World Vision International, and UNICEF-EAPRO.
