Annual Workshop of Baltic countries' Ombudspersons for Children's Rights

After a first workshop held in 2012 in Estonia, Latvia hosted the 2nd annual workshop on children's rights organized by and for Ombudspersons for Children's Rights in Baltic countries.

The 2013 annual workshop took place in Riga, from 21 to 22 March 2013.

The event brought together representatives from Ombudspersons for Children's Offices of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. After a summary presentation of the annual activities of each institution, workshop attendees participated in a study visit to the social correction educational institution “Naukšēni”.

The 2nd day of the workshop was dedicated to different thematic discussions including access to and work with families deprived of parental rights, how to talk with and about the children in the media, the UN position regarding the "baby boxes", etc. The 2013 discussions were using the six-hat thinking method.

The Ombudsman for Children's Rights of Lithuania is the next year's host of the annual workshop for baltic countries' Ombudspersons for Children's Rights.
