Day of General Discussion - Call for submissions

The Committee on the Rights of the Child is calling for submissions ahead of the Day of General Discussion, which this year focuses on  "Children in the Context of International Migration". The discussion will take place on 28 September in Geneva.

Part one

In the morning, an overview of specific challenges faced by children in international migration situations will be presented, together with good practices on measures of protection. Speakers will include the Special Rapporteur on migrants, Committee members, NGOs and child representatives.

Part two

Participants will then split into two working groups. The first group will address the international framework on the rights of children in international migration situations, protection gaps and the individual and shared responsibilities of States Parties; the second group will assess national level measures to implement the rights of children in international migration situations.

Please note, the deadline for submissions and registration is 10 September.

Committee Member Elections

Elections to the Committee on the Rights of the Child will take place in New York on 18 December.  The deadline for nominations is 6 September.

While NGOs cannot nominate candidates, they can play a role in lobbying their State to nominate a candidate who they feel makes the grade. Find out how you can get involved here.
