Children's Ombudsperson

The United Kingdom established Children's Commissioners in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland under the Children Act 2004 and corresponding legislation of the devolved legislatures. The Committee on the Rights of the Child has expressed concern that the Commissioners have insufficient powers to comply with the Paris Principles, and has recommended that the mandate of the Commissioners be extended to allow them to receive and investigate complaints from or on behalf of children concerning alleged violations of children's rights.
