Ukraine is a member of the Council of Europe and subject to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights, which issues decisions that are binding on all Council of Europe members. The Court maintains a searchable database of its case law, and the Council of Europe's Theseus project also offers a database containing Court case law relevant to children's rights.

Cases brought and admitted against Ukraine involving children's issues concern children taken into care as a result of poverty and divorced fathers' access to their children.
